Saltwater Fly Pattern

BREAD FLY

Hook:
#6 – 10 Mustad 34007 S/S

Thread:
White flat waxed or monofilament

Materials:
Sinking – white chenille
Floating – white chenille and white closed cell foam

Instructions:

1   Start thread at hook eye and wind back to bend.

2   Strip a small amount of material from the end of the chenille and tie the ‘string’ in at the bend and move thread back to hook eye

3   Wrap the chenille in close turns up to the hook eye, tie off and trim off excess chenille.

4   Whip finish and apply a small amount of head cement.

5   For a floating fly, tie in a narrow strip of foam on top of the shank behind hookeye and overbind back to the bend. Attach chenille and form fly as previously. Pull the foam forward over the chenille and tie off just behind the hook eye. Trim off excess foam, whip finish and apply a small amount of head cement.

Notes
Keep the thread finish as small as possible and avoid a big lump of thread.
The fly can also be tied by spinning and clipping deerhair
