Trevally Flies

After a number of trips and plenty of trial and error, we have narrowed it down, to what we believe to be, the most productive flies in a number of different situations and conditions.

All flies are tied using synthetic materials (no problems getting through customs) on chemically sharpened Gamakatsu SL45 bonefish hooks. The bodies are coated in hardener to ensure a long life while the thread finish is secured with head cement to prevent unravelling. The Ceal-Furr winging material becomes semi-translucent when wet and is supple enough to have plenty of movement when stripped yet is stiff enough not to matt together. A variety of different eye sizes are used to suit different water depths.

The "Assassin" fly is ideal to use if you wish to chase some of the bruisers that cruise the flats and the reef edges.

Tied on Trey Coombs big game hooks (SL12S) to stand up to the pressure applied by these fish. The hook point up design means less snags in the rough terrain.

Available in unweighted for use on the flats and shallow reefs and weighted to get the fly down in the strong currents along the reef edges.

The most popular colour is white with green and grey back on 4/0 to 6/0 hooks.
